2025 MRC V.I.S.I.O.N. Awards

Fairfax County Health Department (VA)

In 2024 the Fairfax County Health Department (VA) continued to invest in the Fairfax County MRC, providing training staff to support volunteer training in two categories: personal emergency preparedness and task-oriented volunteer training. A total of 298 volunteers participated in more than 25 training opportunities, ensuring a capable volunteer workforce that can respond to a wide range of support requests.

Fairfax County Health Department relies on these trained volunteers for all aspects of its public health mission, including clinic activities, planned events, and emergency response. Fairfax MRC volunteers provided daily medical or administrative support in county clinics, supported hearing and vision screening and immunization for Fairfax County Public Schools and attended dozens of community events for public health outreach and MRC recruitment. About 400 MRC volunteers dedicated almost 2,000 hours to promote the health department's mission and build a more resilient community. The Fairfax County Health Department values these volunteers and demonstrates outstanding support of the Fairfax County MRC.
