Inventory Management and Tracking System (IMATS)
In a large-scale public health emergency, state, local, tribal and territorial(SLTT) public health agencies must manage large quantities of medical countermeasures (MCMs) to help prevent or treat diseases. Responders need an effective software tool to manage the large and quick-moving MCM inventory they may receive from the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS).
IMATS
IMATS was created by the SNS to help SLTT partners manage these MCMs during a public health emergency. IMATS allows responders to track MCM inventory down to local levels, monitor reorder thresholds, and support warehouse operations.
IMATS supports nine critical warehouse and inventory management processes:
-
Mobilization
-
Ordering/requesting resources
-
Approval of request
-
Receipt of inventory
-
Storing of inventory
-
Picking of order
-
Shipping of inventory/order
-
Dispensing of MCMs
-
Demobilization
IMATS Federal and Jurisdictional Data Exchanges
During large-scale public health emergencies, the SNS relies on complete and accurate information to provide MCMs to impacted jurisdictions. IMATS supports data exchange, which allows public health jurisdictions to use their current inventory systems to report data electronically to the SNS during an emergency response.
IMATS provides federal officials with a reliable means to determine the availability of MCMs and other resources across jurisdictions, guides federal decisions on where and when to deploy MCMs, allows the SNS to respond proactively, and informs strategic purchasing decisions.
